Allie was playing outside with her brother.
She climbed a tall tree.

"If you can climb higher than me, I will give you my chocolate bar!" her brother said.

Her mother said.
"If you are not careful, you will fall from the tree!"

Allie was not careful.
She climbed very high.
Then her foot slipped!
Allie fell down from the tree.

Allie fell hard on the ground.
Her leg hurt very much.
She tried to be brave, but her leg was so painful.

Mum called the doctor.
She came to look at Allie's leg.
"Your leg is broken," said the doctor.
"If you do not take care of your broken leg, it will not mend properly!"

Allie was very upset.
"If I had not climbed the tree, my leg would not be broken!" she said sadly.

Allie and Mum drove to the hospital.
Allie had to stay in the hospital for a long time.
She was very bored!

In the bed next to Allie was a little girl.
Her name was Laura.
Laura had beautiful coloring pencils.

"If you like my coloring pencils, I will give them to you." said Laura.

Allie was very happy!
After that, Allie and Laura were good friends.
They talked together all day long.

Soon, it was time for Allie to go home.
"Are you happy to go home?" asked Mum.
"I am happy to go home," said Allie.
"But I am happy I broke my leg too.
If I had not broken my leg, I would not have met Laura!"
